Field Guide

Creatures of Atlantis

Not every inhabitant of the deep is hostile. Some are majestic. Some are confused. Some glow for reasons nobody should take lightly.

Atlantean ecosystems are shaped by pressure, crystal radiation, and centuries of resonance-driven adaptation. That makes local wildlife unlike anything on the surface. Some creatures are revered as guardians. Others are studied, avoided, or politely bribed with glowing kelp.

Glowing underwater dinosaurs occupy a special place in Atlantean folklore. They are living light sources, migration markers, and the kind of discovery that absolutely escalates a routine mission into a major incident, as readers see in Episode 015: The Glow Below. Deep-sea guardians patrol ancient routes and ruins, more curious than aggressive unless someone tampers with protected systems.

Then there are the friendly but confused sea creatures affected by old signal traffic. Crabs click to impossible rhythms. Fish change direction with half-decoded harmonics. Even harmless species can become surreal when an ancient beacon decides the ocean is once again part of its broadcast area, a thread picked up in Episode 018: Subaquatic Beacon Sending Encrypted Pings.

Humorous warning
